Dumping the Term: “Christian Apologist”

Is it possible to convince people about Christianity on only the strength of the evidence? If God is the only one who can change someone’s heart or mind, why make a case at all? Christopher Sernaque from Christ Jesus Ministries discusses the issue with J. Warner on the Pilate’s Interview Podcast.

If an atheist can argue a Christian out of his belief (which has happened many times in recent history), then it is possible that a believer can argue an unbeliever to a place of belief.

We are to Preach the true Gospel. And that is the main objective.
Repentance was preached by both John the Baptist and Jesus.
Jesus's message was the Kingdom, the Kingdom was like yeast, the Kingdom was like a banquet, etc Jesus claimed to be the door. The way to Salvation the way to enter into the Kingdom.
God is in the process of restoration. God created us for his Glory when God sees a regenerated person he does not see sin.
God has set the price of our redemtion. Christ our Lord and Savior paid the price. God paid a debt we could not pay to restore us back into right relationship. God was able to send the third person of the trinity into clean hearts and bodies on this earth.
God has given us humans a very special calling. We have this dirt bag body which makes us legal to be here. So we become God's amabassador here on earth to carry out the Kingdom Mission.
People ought to know you are from a different country by the culture of that country. How you act what you wear, what you read, what you listen to. Where you go. Etc.
The Holy Spirit convicts but we are also encourage to answer sincere questions. We can not bring anyone into the Kingdom. But we are to preach the Kingdom and how you get there. Jesus is the way the Truth and the Light. Apologetics are still important.but not what we are to preach. It is to give answers after sincere questioning.
Ray comfort does well to preach th door and repentance, he does elaborate on the Kingdom a bit on some of his videos.
I think he does not do as well itb appologetics. YEC. Does not make much sense. And can be a stumbling block for some.
Proper teaching and theology is Important, but we should not forget that the apostles encouraged and directed that we only preach the true Gospel.
We get to be inthebest family ever and even if we are hated or reviled God will stick to us and we will have eternal life. That is Good News

It was watching Barry Smith's Prophecy videos that convinced me that the Bible is true, and also convicted my heart of sin and judgment to come.

I don’t understand how Wallace’s channel has so few views. It OUGHT to be up there with like David Wood and Cross Examined. Just give it time.

I think the reason you don't see people evangelizing in the New Testament the same way as Ray Comfort evangelizes is because you didn't used to have to convince people that they were sinners. Everybody already knew they were sinners. The question for them was what was the solution to sin. But today, a lot of people don't believe they are sinners either because they don't think there are any objective standards or because they have deluded themselves into thinking they haven't violated any standards. I think Ray Comfort is doing a service by the way he evangelizes because he's trying to wake people up to the fact that the are sinners. This is something apologists rarely do. Apologists typically just try to show that Christianity is true, but they don't go that extra step in making a person feel the gravity of their own sin so that they will see their need for a savior. Ray Comfort does that, and he should be commended for it. It's one thing to think the basic claims of Christianity are true. It's another thing to have a desire to throw yourself at the mercy of God and seek forgiveness for your sins.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1 KJV. "Evidence"

Ray comfort has about 5-10 min of people’s attention and that is not enough time to go over any of those very valid questions. So I think he does a good job trying to make people “look in the mirror” and perhaps planting a seed that they will look into those other deeper questions. I wish he’d give a pamphlet about The deeper questions and links to find the answers.

Yes, we can argue people into heaven…Acts 18:4

“And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.”

    2 Corinthians 5:11

“Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”

    1 Corinthians 9:22

“To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.”

    Proverbs 19:20

“Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.”

Arguing the truth breaks us down…we become too exhausted to fight against it anymore, then we submit and accept it! 😊
    Jeremiah 23:29

“Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?”🔨

I love what you guys do! Got a question, how do I pray and get on fire for God when it seems that I’m drained and out of energy? Thank you in advance! God bless!!

The truth that we proclaim often evokes hate and we ought to be ready to defend our faith with gentleness and respect.
