I've never heard someone describe the American historical battle against racism and slavery so eloquently. I like how he ends with Martin Luther King as the ending point. Because we all know everytime something ends it has only just begun a new era. So that era we are in and we've arrived at the half way point through it. The past 50 years have had many legal battles against systemic and interpersonal racism culminating into a viscous turn towards racism and racial divides in the current days we live. I really believe that the next 50 years will be the ending of that hateful and racist ideology that seeks to perpetuate racism in a newer way towards people who are now economically poor and who are apart of the majority racial demographic. We need to realize one day as a society that race is not real and the only way to remove racism is by assuring anyone who brings up the concept of race that they are a racist and that I don't have a place at my table for people who are racists.

There's alot of crap in this, America was built on slaves, made its wealth on slaves. Im sorry but America did not lead the world in getting rid of slavery, and wasn't against it from the very start like he said. If you wanna love you country and undermine its past sins go ahead, but this is clearly selective viewing

Sorry but the whole of the world and the different countries strive for moral good. America didn't create it. It came to America from Britain and Europe.

the history of the USA begins with the arrival of Native Americans in North America around 15,000 BC. Numerous indigenous cultures formed, and many disappeared in the 1500s.Most colonies were formed after 1600, and the United States was the first nation whose most distant origins are fully recorded.[a] By the 1760s, the thirteen British colonies contained 2.5 million people along the Atlantic Coast east of the Appalachian Mountains. After defeating France, the British government imposed a series of taxes, including the Stamp Act of 1765, rejecting the colonists' constitutional argument that new taxes needed their approval. Resistance to these taxes, especially the Boston Tea Party in 1773, led to Parliament issuing punitive laws designed to end self-government. Armed conflict began in Massachusetts in 1775. In 1776, in Philadelphia, the Second Continental Congress declared the independence of the colonies as the "United States". Led by General George Washington, it won the Revolutionary War. The peace treaty of 1783 established the borders of the new nation. The founders of the United States were influenced by republicanism and based it on the thinking of Locke and by the optimism of the European Enlightenment. Therefore Plato and the Greek philosophers had nothing to do with it. Charlie plays dod to dot with history. Telling only parts of the truth. And this worries me because he is a dangerous individual, he doesn't do detail, only the basic and joins the points together to make a biased history.

USA is the most amazing country in the world and the people that dosen't feel happy and don't love USA can go to other countries. If the leftist dosen't like this country go and move to Cuba or Venezuela. That's it. The leftist organizations want to change the history and destroy this country. Leftist organizations are evils.

Yeeeeah gonna rain on some parades here, he's referring to the three fifths act in section 2 clause 3. Only three fifths of all enslaved bodies so not exclusively blacks were supposed to be freed, this was a political point to bolster territory populations expanding representative power while also increasing a taxable population pool. History is not as simple as this moron or the morons on the left make it, it's a muddy gray mess he's just a talking head stirring up validation like the other side. Politicians specifically avoid studying history so they can lie about it with a defense of "oh well this is my interpretation which is there for fact to me".

To be fair the people who actually lived in England where represented by the parliament much like they are today, the problem was that the colonists unlike native British citizens did not have that type of representation. It is somewhat possible that if the American colonists received that kind of representation there would have been no revolution. Also it is important to note that the type slavery that was used in America is called chattel slavery meaning that the slaves were treated like animals where in other societies such as Africa they were treated more like second class citizens. For some examples of contrast chattel slavery is passed down to the children of the slave while in many other societies such as the ones that were present in Africa at the time where set up in a way that the slaves could easily mingle with non slave members of that society and have free born children. Another thing that is important to note is that a significant reason we fought Mexico in the Mexican American war was that the Americans who moved into Mexican territory specifically in Texas wanted to flout Mexico’s law forbidding slavery. Which isn’t exactly the greatest reason IMO. Also it is notable that the same Republican Party that Lincoln founded betrayed his vision of reconstruction in a bargain to guarantee they had enough electoral votes. This doomed black people in the South to live through Jim Crow until the 60s and 70s. In addition to this black people would and still do face discrimination in housing and violence throughout the country. Also the political parties of those days are much different that the parties that bear their names now. There were major shifts in ideology during the Great Depression and civil rights era. I could go into further detail if anyone asks but for now I won’t. To be clear I do not hate America and I definitely do not think it is the worst country in the world. History is full of atrocities from people of all corners of the world. And especially if we look at what some of our more liberal neighbors in Europe did on the African continent such as Belgium’s horrifying rule in the Congo. And many countries are extremely problematic today with China committing what is at the very least cultural genocide and the many issues Russia has. There are many admirable pieces of our history how ever I think it is important to recognize and atone for the things that we did wrong. Yes America has always been trying to improve itself but that doesn’t mean we should have some type of blind love to this country. We must embrace both the positives and negatives of our past and make peace with them. I am completely open to any comments or debate as I believe hearing others perspectives is extremely important to developing as a person.

America was founded with ideals on slavery and injustice. They left for freedom, they fought for freedom, but didn't fulfil it on all men. Most of the founding fathers were for slavery.

Most people can accept this. Most of this is misinformation. Link a historical source. Please. Back this up. Nobody is erasing or changing history.

The claim of ‘founded upon slavery’ is certainly more than questionable, however it is important to take into account the economic incentives of slavery. New England – Vermont especially – had almost no stake in the slave trade. Thus, the morality of the slavery issue held more weight and anti-slavery legislation could pass there very easily. The big mistake the founding fathers made regarding this issue is that they gave the economically dependent South too much leverage. For what it’s worth, I also recall (from my eighth grade history teacher way back when) that politicians did very little to enforce the 20-year slave import ban, especially in the Antebellum.

This is an example of white privilege. Saying slavery was a very bad thing and yet having it for hundreds of years is not an accomplishment. Also Chattel slavery was not practiced in the rest of the world it was unique to the west. In other cultures the slave ultimately became part of the society after a few generations. I'm sick of privilege little morons trying to tell me how great America was on slavery. In-fact slavery is still legal in America. They never abolished it that moved it to the prison system. Read the 13th amendment.
