Matthew 7:1 says, “Do not judge so that you will not be judged.” Greg Koukl of Stand to Reason explains the original context and meaning of this often-misused verse.

Straight to the point….perhaps the creation of verse and chapter has been the enemy of context??? While helpful in study and allowing for the quick reference of applicable scripture, it has aided much in the misconstruing of Biblical truth

Thanks Greg most people definitely pull that one scripture out of context. Good stuff as always!

So we can judge those who sin differently from us, as long as we are not hypocritical?
I follow Jesus because of the relationship he wanted with ME. Not with my fellow man. He always guided us about our own salvation in him, because it is difficult enough to carry our own cross, let alone our neighbours. I refuse to believe that God calls unrighteous me to judge. I am not personally / morally clean enough to bear such responsibility. Everyday is a different log for me. How dare I judge then?

Does Koukl teach Lordship Salvation?

If we are going to quote Jesus, let's at least try to be accurate about his words.
He never said don't judge.
He knew we do it all tne time as humans.
But he added be careful as when you do, Father will judge you with the same yardstick… Ok…

Can you remove the log though?

Context, always context.
