I can look at my garden and tell you I designed it and I can even have photo evidence of its construction. However I cannot claim the plants I pick are of my construction yet the evidence and knowledge of their evolution is clear which shows me that their construction was not a miracle or a design from a supernatural deity. I know that they were plants selected from wild species that survived through natural selection and enhanced by unnatural selection by humans for humans. No mystery there!

The difference is you are saying the evidence for the existence of a fairy in your garden is on par with evidence that you exist to make that very garden. I can look at your garden and tell that you designed it. This is the classic teapot argument regurgitated as a fairy. Unfortunately it is not on par with arguing for the existence of God.
Slashoom
I have never heard this objection and I'm glad.

"A fairy (faeries – Plural) is not a material object …"What is faeries then?
Darwinsgift
A fairy (faeries – Plural) is not a material object and if you feel it is reasonable not to believe in their existence or my word on them, does it not strike you strange that a god should get special treatment in the realms of non existence. In what way is the evidence for a fairy in my garden given? Are you for real?
girtkaz
Faeries(If I understand you correctly what it is) are material objects – there are evidence and reasons not to believe them and in the light of evidence given for them it is reasonable not to believe in their existance nor to believe you have any experience of them. There surely can be given evidence both for and against. You are the one not thinking for yourself. You sounded like propoganda to me.
Darwinsgift
Disbelief needs observable proof to change but that does not mean it is blind! The claim of faeries in my garden need proof for me to expect you to believe me. What argument would you give to this claim? If you simply say you believe me then who's the fool? Think for yourself!
girtkaz
Then I have last remark for you – blind disbelief is Blind. Cristianity may have bad arguments but be true if disbelief has no arguments.
Darwinsgift
I just want you to think for yourself!
girtkaz
Is it "For shockofgod – Why atheism regarding the Bible is true! " I guess it is your own vid right?Do you have anything to add to it and are you interested in my responce?

What evidence you have that God does not exist?
Darwinsgift
What is it that you want to question me on?
girtkaz
"I suggest you watch some of my videos if you want to know what I think." I did not find evidence nor reference to evidence there so what was your point?
Darwinsgift
I am NOT substituting a claim with my own, only reality!
What claim are you talking about?
If the question is "Does a god exist?" and I say "no" then surely the evidence is needed to prove a god! Who's the straw man?
If you wish for proof of the Bible being wrong then the evidence is there to see! I suggest you watch some of my videos if you want to know what I think.
girtkaz
"To be a straw-man I would need to replace one fallacy with another…." Strawman is fallasy itself – when you substitute the claim with your own and then attack your own creation.
"I base my position on evidence of claims not ancient fables." you have not provided any evidence even for your strawman(no reference to test your claim.
"The question of a God existing is only important if you use the scriptures to decide…. " The question is important if you understand the question – you do not.
Darwinsgift
To be a straw-man I would need to replace one fallacy with another. Please show evidence of this! My position is not claims of supernatural nonsense with untestable claims. I base my position on evidence of claims not ancient fables. The question of a God existing is only important if you use the scriptures to decide the fate of others that do not agree. It would not be important if it was just a private perversion of reality. I do not profit in any way as an atheist!
girtkaz
"….word of god is in the Bible then why would you ask what the word is?" Because it is a strwman you are defeating here – read any catechsim for christian understanding.
"….this man profits from spreading lies designed to control thoughts…" I could ask the same question to you or anyone – that does nothing to discussion as it is adding generic falasy to a strawman. How can any meaningfull conwrsation begun if one fallasy is used on other. It is too important question – Is there God?
Darwinsgift
If the word of god is in the Bible then why would you ask what the word is? I ask these questions as this man profits from spreading lies designed to control thoughts for one mans gain. I only ask you to think for yourself, not necessarily believe me.
girtkaz
"Why would the word of a god need so many authors? " It depends on what
the word of God is. For me it seams you are attacking strawman.
Darwinsgift
The problem is that in a fable these stories are expected. A novel is written in the same way. The same book that both predicts and claims the prediction came true is not evidence. Perhaps Jesus had already been tipped off about the betrayal. Sherlock Holmes is a fictitious character based on a factual one and many think he was real. Why would the word of a god need so many authors? The evidence already points towards no god so how do you figure that more evidence is needed of disproof.

Greg is upset, as he and I—and you too–should be. Anti-Biblical principles are rife in the modern 'Christian church' as they shouldn't be.
Gustavogonzalezseda
He seems upset.

Isn't the letter of first John all about this. He is telling the people he wrote to that Jesus was real that he is a witness that there is evidence of it and Jesus was not just a spirit being as some had been teaching at that time. Basically the Gnostic movement was trying to teach that it was all based on faith and spirit and the world is to be ignored and John wrote saying that that is hooey, Jesus lived in f flesh body like all of us, died and was resurrected and John was a witness to it.

I had some friends asking me this same question, but its interesting that in essence what these objectors are really saying is:"Lemme give you reasons for why you shouldn't give reasons for our faith"……Seems perfectly cogent to me…oh wait lol 🙂
Yesica1993
The fact that anyone would even raise such a ridiculous objection to apologetics demonstrates how emotionally-based most people's faith really is.
It's a good point to ask them to give reasons for their view on this, instead of having us defend our side!
youssarian91
People seem afraid that if you can show God exists through reason, then you have discarded the need for faith. I disagree with that statement. Apologetics can never replace faith. There are people who know all the argument and still won't believe. Apologetics is a tool for faith, like miracles, prophesy, worship, and so on. But not a replacement.

"There's a danger that arguments for the existence of God could actually distract one's attention from God Himself…We mustn't so concentrate on the external proofs that we fail to hear the inner voice of God speaking to our own hearts."
-William Lane Craig

By far the best defense for the use of Apologetics. Ironic lol. This is the type of video that Calvinists pull their hair over 🙂
