Turek: the main objection will be: of course Jesus is the most influential person in history because people think he rose from the dead, but he really didnΒ΄t…

    Wallace: Jesus existed. πŸ€¦β€β™‚

It would be reasonable to infer Jesus were something more than a fictional character IF you had something more than circumstantial claims. All religions are rooted in myth and legend, including Judaism, Xianity's progenitor, and Islam, Xianity's cousin. Speaking of Islam, perhaps you should consult one of the 1.8 billion Muslims about the influence of Mohamed before you go harping off about jesus. IF a historical jesus did exist, he did not do the miracles as claimed in the gospels nor did he rise from the dead. You possess no proof to the contrary; you only have claims and assertions.

The chain of custody in this case is a telephone game in the hands of people who hold a supernatural belief
while freely admitting their thinking and reasoning process is not to be trusted.
    Telephone game:
aΒ gameΒ inΒ whichΒ aΒ messageΒ isΒ passedΒ onΒ
untilΒ theΒ finalΒ versionΒ ofΒ theΒ messageΒ
isΒ oftenΒ radicallyΒ changedΒ fromΒ theΒ original.
When it finally reaches the stylus of a Christian writer it becomes the official written Word of God.

How influential does a fictional character need to be befor he is considered to be real?

    Fictional character? Β Seriously?

I'd suggest that many if not most skeptics think that Jesus was a real character. What they think is fictional are the various miraculous claims about Jesus. Some skeptics may think those claims are pure inventions. Others may think the claims result from legendary developments, hallucinations and so on.

We have other examples from history of real people exerting enormous influence, and legends developing around them, legends which often involve supernatural claims. This has nothing to do with fictional characters but rather has everything to do with real characters.

If Frank and JWW cannot understand this, then consider that Benny Hinn is a real character who has great influence. But many claims his followers make about him, are fictional as far as we skeptics are concerned. For example, the fact that he blows people over with his breath has nothing to do with God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit, but rather it's a reaction due to devoted followers thinking that Hinn is performing miracles on them.

^^ Do Frank and JWW conclude that Hinn must be a fictional character because the claims his followers make about him are wrong?

As for the chain of custody? It's a chain with many very weak links. Paulogia has an excellent short video titled "Why we know the story of Jesus isn't a legend (Cold Case Christianity response)" which explores just how strong the chain is. It's not strong at all.

This is absolutely awful reasoning. By necessity, there will always be a "most impactful fictional character". By Wallace's logic, that character should be inferred to be non-fictional. Then the second-most impactful becomes the most impactful. Again, by Wallace's logic, that character should also be inferred to be non-fictional. So on and so forth, until Wallace believes EVERY character is non-fictional.

So a man comes to die a gruesome death on a cross and claims hes God and dies on a cross – and this death on the cross will be for mankind's sin for all time? Well who else claimed that? Id want to look into it if someone came to earth today and made such seemingly outrageous claims wouldn’t you?

The objection is not that Jesus didn't exist but that some people believed that he resurrected and that eventually made him the most influential person in history.

And btw, Jediism is the forth largest religion in UK.

Can you add Josephus to the chain of custody? In his work Antiquities of the Jews (written in the 90s), he mentions the wise man Jesus who was:

    1) A rabbi who attracted both Jewish AND GENTILE followers

    2) A "doer of wonderful works"

    3) Killed by crucifixion on order of Pontius Pilate

    4) Allegedly rose from the dead after three days

    5) Appeared to his apostles after his ressurection

    6) And, the apostles claimed that all of these were done according to the scriptures.

Keep in mind, this was written in the 90s A.D, very early stuff

AMEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST OUR LORD HE'S COMING BACK SOON BE PREPARED πŸ™β€οΈ. I appreciate these videos Frank Turek and Cross Examined ministry. This has nothing to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a fellow Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't.

I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict.

Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers.
Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years

ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of but not macro or micro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.

Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

Nope. The fact that apologists want to consider this as "evidence" is evidence only have little real evidence they have.

Mr. Wallace made no attempt to demonstrate the truth of anything. All he did was say (paraphrasing) 'if you can't come up with another fictional character that has had the impact Jesus had, that means he isn't fictional.' Firstly, that's not even true. Secondly, even if Jesus isn't fictional, that doesn't mean he was God incarnate, that doesn't prove the gospels true, and that doesn't prove he rose from the dead. Lastly, this video has nothing to do with chain of custody.

Mr. Wallace says the following: "OK, so, in the end, if you cannot find an example of another fictional character that, in fact, can have the kind of impact that Jesus had, it's reasonable to infer that Jesus is something more than a fictional character."
No, that is not a reasonable inference. It is quite possible that the Jesus figure could be an unprecedented fictional character, or that it is a fiction in a different way that Mr. Wallace has not considered. Mr. Wallace seems to be making an argument from ignorance in order to shift the burden of evidence; if his opponent can't supply him with the arbitrary evidence he desires, then he will declare his default proposition true without taking any possible alternatives into consideration.

Oh, and by the way, I also think it is quite easy to provide a fictional character with a bigger impact on our world than Jesus; namely God. So there.

when jesus said "no man knows the hour, not the SON, only the father"
that is a claim to divinity, for if jesus was not reffering to himself
who then is this SON of god he speaks of?

Did you memorize the short prayer Jesus told us to pray? I did when I was just a boy, and here it is.

Β  "Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever amen."

Β  Those words are no longer printed in any translation of the bible on earth! The words "who, on, trespasses and trespass" have been magically changed to "which, in, debts and debtors"!

Β  Here's one major reason why God told us to write His words in our hearts….

    Amos 8:11

β€œBehold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:”  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β

    Amos 8:12

β€œAnd they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, (it was south), they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.”

The first verse has already been fulfilled but the second one hasn't (yet).Β

Β Click on my Lion and Lamb icon πŸ‘ˆπŸ‘€Β  Β and watch all of the films in my playlist labled PROOF OF BIBLE CHANGE while you still can, and receive an unimaginable strengthening of faith when you see proof of the supernatural fulfillment of prophecy and how close we are to our Savior's return!Β  Β  Β God bless you all!!!

People THINK that Jesus rose from the dead… but there is no reasonable evidence to support that claim, and a lot of evidence which appears to counter that claim. Very few people think that "He really didn't". Most people outside of Christian apologists believe that there are many other explanations outside of the "Either Or" fallacy that you propose.
It is MOST likely that Jesus was an unremarkable Rabbi who was born in Nazareth, died in his early 30s, and had tales of his life embellished Long after he died. Some of those tales reflect common religious and traditional beliefs at that time.
And if you believe that Chain of Custody supports the biblical Jesus,… then it must support all other religions which have a chain of custody, and Must more strongly support other religions with a more reliable chain of custody,… right?

His comparisons to Darth Vader are disingenuous. Whether fictional or not, Jesus is a god, either a real one or an imaginary one. He should be asking what other GODS have had such an influence, in which case he's on less safe ground. Particularly in the case of the Greek and Roman gods, and the Muslim god.

Had Jesus either not existed, only been a man or not risen from the dead, Christianity would’ve died out almost immediately. It’s real, born again Christians who are the generational witnesses and our changed hearts and lives are our greatest witness. Dead or fictional people can’t do that. We take no credit for ourselves and owe it all to Jesus Christ our Lord who saved us, changed us and has worked in and through our lives from the moment of salvation forward.
