“Anything is possible, but not everything is reasonable.”

A student alludes to the DaVinci Code, saying that it was put forth in the book/movie that Jesus’ followers knew how people would interpret the evidence so they developed an elaborate conspiracy to trick the world with the story of Jesus. Frank Turek responds to what we know could have happened and how likely a true conspiracy could have taken place.

The resurrection story was made up to hide the fact that the disciples robbed the grave while the guards were asleep. Grave-robbing was a crime punishable by death.

The guards admitted to their superior that they had fallen asleep.

The grave-robbers were desperate to hide their crime, which was punishable by death, so they made up a cockamamie story about a resurrection that never happened.

I have a question brothers and sisters: I am a believer but I talked to a university professor who told me that even the vatikan confirmed most of the manuscripts of Jesus are fake.

Is this true? Or are the documents well proved?

    Thanks in advance

The conspiracy word should be often be avoided among those seeking to make conservative historical guesses, unless you have evidence of a real conspiracy, which we don't. However, it's obviously the case that the Jesus story changed and grew over time beginning at least in the 1st century. The really odd thing about Christianity is that our early records come from Paul, who is just another radical traveling spiritual visionary claiming to have visions of an angelic being, a being he never met in a human form. People are so fixated on Jesus the Earthly man but for some reason don't give two moments' thought to how odd this is, and people are so fixated on Paul that they just turn a blind eye to how common so many of these visionary spiritual leaders exist, all of whom nobody takes seriously. Look at other books that people claim are written early, like James, which contains no reference to Jesus' life (and probably was written later anyway). This lack of Earthly attributes just poisons the knowledge well we can have about a historical Jesus, and that's just the hard truth, because we simply have absolutely no sources about Jesus that we don't know weren't heavily influenced or encountered by Paul, who, again, never met the human being Jesus. The central character of the gospel narratives is a later invention of historical fiction, a kind of, at best, "based-on-a-true-story" figure, but more likely a legendary accretion. There's no way you historically say with a straight face that the verbatim conversations in any of the gospels, written minimum 40 years after Jesus died, are anywhere near accurate. There is far, FAR too much literary coordination of the events in the gospel and obvious narrative planning (which I am happy to divulge for the curious) for anyone to look at the events and say you can filter out reasonable the "real" details from it. These books are obvious concoctions and concatenations of things the religious community said about Jesus. Who knows what was true, sort-of-true, false, invented, misunderstood, etc.? Nobody can possibly know virtually any of it. Yes, it is easy to defend the idea that there was a historical figure around which Christianity originated, but we can know virtually nothing historically about this figure other than that he was killed by the Romans, he had some followers, and his very general placement in time and history. Almost any other attribute about the figure is completely up for grabs in terms of veracity.

“If you declare with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Now is the time to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. Obey His commands and repent of your sins because Jesus is coming back soon. Tomorrow isn’t promised.

That's right. How hard of a conspiracy theory that would be to keep up with constant new members without announcement of such. Someone could be saved and youd have no idea. A church has no idea. It's either true or a huge joke by something spiritual because its definitely not kept up by man. It has no holes in it like JFK etc.

THE APOSTLES MEET OPPOSITION, ACTS 5:17– 41, The high priest and his officials, who were Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But an angel of the Lord came at night, opened the gates of the jail, and brought them out. Then he told them, "Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!" So at day break the apostles entered the Temple, as they were told, and immediately began teaching. When the high priest and his officials arrived, they convened the high council*-the full assembly of the elders of Israel. Then they sent for the apostles to be brought from the jail for trial. But when the Temple guards went to the jail, the men were gone. So they returned to the council and reported, "The jail was securely locked, with the guards standing outside, but when we opened the gates, no one was there!" When the Captain of the Temple guard and the leading priests heard this, they were perplexed, wondering where it would all end. Then someone arrived with startling news: "The men you put in jail are standing in the Temple, teaching the people!" The Captain went with his Temple guards and arrested the apostles, but without violence, for they were afraid the people would stone them. They they brought the apostles before the high council, where the high priest confronted them. "Didn't we tell you never again to teach in this man's name?" he demanded,. ""Instead, you have filled all Jerusalem with your teaching about him, and you want to make us responsible for his death!" But Peter and the apostles replied, "We must obey God rather then any human authority. The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by hanging him on a cross.* Then God put him in the place of honor at his right hand as Prince and Savior. He did this so the people of Israel would repent of their sins and be forgiven. We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him." When they heard this, the high council was furious and decided to kill them. BUT one member, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, who was an expert in religious law and respected by all the people, stood up and order that the men be sent outside the council chamber for a while. Then he said to his colleagues, "Men of Israel, take care what you are planning to do to these men!" Some time ago there was that fellow Theudas, who pretended to be someone great. About 400 others joined him, but he was killed, and all his followers went their various ways. The whole movement came to nothing. After him, at the time of the census, there was Judas of Galilee. He got people to follow him, but he was killed, too, and all his followers were scattered. "So my advice is, leave these men alone. Let them go. If they are planning and doing these things merely on their own, it will soon be overthrown. But if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God!" The others accepted hi advice. They called in the apostles and had them flogged. They they ordered them never again to speak in the name of Jesus, and they let them go. The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus.* And every day, in the Temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and preach this message: "Jesus is the Messiah."

And for once i would like to know the motive of the conspirators. Why make up the story of Jesus ?
People will literally BELIEVE anything to avoid the truth of God so they can sleep better at night being sinners every day of their life.

Proclaiming how good people they are because they havent murdered somebody and all the liying , stealing , adultery and fornication is harmless , morally ok and wont make them accountable someday because the ultimate judge doesnt exist.

People have emotional issues and then some. Responsibility and accountability issues. They REFUSE to accept the truth of God because it makes them FEEL BETTER.

How to believe/trust?. Firstly, we have to find which religion is truth/true/right. How? We must have same definition or meaning of the truth/true/right. We must use same method to determine the truth/true/right. Believe => claim = test/check = see. This is normally practice by everybody when we buy/accept something/good which is expensive from other people(we see or we do not see).

Our faith is very expensive. Please open Al Quran Surah Al Hujurat 49: 6. O who believe! If a Fasiq (liar-evil person) comes to you with and news, verify it, lest you should harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful for what you have done. Please open Bible John 4:1. Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test to see whether they are from God, for false prophets have gone out into the world. We test and verify the claim/message words of god from Bible (can see), Torah (can see), Al Quran(can see), and other religion books. We must get/see same result(claim=test/check=see) or not. God(can not see) create man(can see). Man worship god. Question: How is god create man? What Method? God create man from ground dust(Torah,Bible, Quran) or man rib(Torah, Bible,Quran) or woman only(Bible,Quran) or Nutfah(mix drop of male and female sexual discharge)-Quran or other religion books?. We do testing/experimenting/checking to verify it, by using these method to create man. Everybody can test/experiment/check, verify and see it. Which method can create/produce man?.Answer: The claim/message/words of god in Al Quran is truth/true/right.

Conclusion: Certainly, we can create man by this method (claim by Al Quran). Al Quran is truth/true/right. Allah create man. Man belong to Allah. Man have to obey Allah rule/law. This religion is truth/true/right. So, we have to believe/trust it . Please, read Al Quran and think. You get the answer. Sorry, my English is not very good.

.. it is probable that no such person as Jesus of the Bible ever actually existed.. there is no evidence that He had.. there is also no evidence for the existence of the Jealous God of Moses, His supposed Heavenly Father.. the writings of Paul are of no evidence for the history of Jesus.. the best we can work out from Paul is that some time before the Gospels as we know them was writ, the faith of Cult Of Jesus was widespread across the Roman Empire.. at the time that Paul wrote there already existed Churches with congregations scriptures and rituals, all over the Roman Empire.. Paul tells us that there were even many false preachers, preaching the story of Jesus, before any of the Gospels we know of was writ.. this suggests that there were different schools, following different preachers, in various churches, thru-out the Empire.. this is probly the origin of our four different Gospels..
..my theory is that Cult Of Jesus was probly an invention of Roman philosophers at ancient Alexandria in Egypt.. it was created in attempt to defuse the violence of the ancient Jew.. the Bible tells us that Jews were contrary to all men.1Thess.2:15.. which means, the ancient Jew hated all nonJews.. this attitude caused many problems in the ancient world.. Jews would often run riot, claiming that their religious sensibilities had been offended.. much the same as we see today with Muslims, who also seem to hate all nonMuslims.. for it is written..Do not make covenant with the people of the land wherein you find yourselves.. but ye shall destroy their alters smash their images and cut down their groves.. the ancient Jew did not come in peace, and neither did Muhammad and his Muslims.. he based his new faith on the religion of Moses and his Jealous God.. the ancients had similar problems to us, and perhaps they created Jesus, Son of the Jealous God, to help bring religious peace to the ancient world.. something similar had been done before.. philosophers at ancient Alexandria had created a new religion to bring peace between religions that despised each other.. the ancient Egyptian religion disliked the Greek religions, and so philosophers came up with a solution.. they combined two religious ideas, part Egyptian part Greek, and came up with a new religion, worship of the God Serapis.. a false god, created by philosophers.. which was soon adopted by both parties, and for a time, religious harmony ruled the land.. the story of Jesus probly came by the same route.. "Out of Egypt have I called my son."…

I would have agreed with the questioner. Yes, it was a conspiracy…from God himself. As we look at Gen 3:15 and all the other prophecies of the old testament, the story of Christ coming was a divine conspiracy that God prescribed thousands of years in advance through many different people. This all happened long before the apostles came along.
