Watch our overview video on Genesis 12-50, which breaks down the literary design of the book and its flow of thought. In Genesis, God promises to bless rebellious humanity through the family of Abraham, despite their constant failure and folly.

'And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments….' 3:21
Ana praise יְהֹוָה
3:38 Avraham did not count the stars. He is told to tell the story of the stars in their order. "So your seed [Yeshua] will be." 📖Berĕshith 15:5,6 And he believed in יְהֹוָה YeHoVaH, who credited it to him for righteousness.
📖Galatians 3:16 Now the promises were spoken to Avraham and to his offspring, he does not say, "To descendants," as of many, but as of one, "To your offspring," which is Mashiach.
📚 in Abraham “all the families of the earth shall be blessed [nivrechu].” (Genesis 12:3)
💥by grafting them into the faith of Abraham.
Using a Jewish interpretation method called drash, Rabbi Eleazar looked at the Hebrew word used here for blessed, which is nivrechu. This is a unique form of the verb “to bless” found in Genesis 12:3 and 18:18.
The root of bless in Hebrew is barach. However, using drash, sages relate nivrechu to a different verb mavrich, which means grafted❣️

Do you idiots really believe this 2,000 year old comic book is a historical document? That’s fine if these stories help you get by, but they were not meant to be taken literally.

It now makes sense to me why God's nation would be called "Israel"! XD

Abraham may have been far from the docile character most present. Yes he believed God's promise in Sarah bearing him the son of promise. Could this be the reason Abraham tested God so much by later giving Sarah away as a sister, positioning her as an indestructible weapon or curse he'd plant upon (or within) the gates of his enemies? Then when Isaac was born, perhaps Abraham eyed with suspicion that God would ask him to sacrifice Isaac contrary to the promise he would bear the nation God promised. If we set aside, for the moment, this event as a foreshadow of the messiah's eventual atonement for the whole world, it seemed like God was also testing him in reply for the times he brazenly tested God with Sarah's own life. With Satan well aware and against the promise, I wonder how often Abraham observed the protection that was over Sarah and later her son Isaac? I also have to wonder if prior to Isaac's birth, Sarah grew tired of being used. Maybe this formed a part of her reason to have Hagar bear him the son. There are always other ways to consider things since scripture is an account of mostly actions and we rarely are told of the thoughts within the players themselves..

I was following the story until you got to that Jacob deceived Esau. I thought Esau sold his blessing for a bowl of stew. Anybody please comment.!

I always thought Esau didn’t really value his birthright which I why he gave it up for a meal. But when he went back on his deal, Jacob was forced to deceive his father in order to get what was rightfully handed over to him. Semantics I suppose. Great video

I'm currently reading Genesis myself but having a nice organized visual guideline really helps in remembering all the things that happened in all that text. Thank you!
Edit: However, I also remember Esau causing some mayhem as well… taking multiple wives and causing discord in his family. This lead Jacob's mother to encourage/allow Jacob to deceive his father into taking his brother's inheritance in the first place. (That doesn't excuse Jacob, of course.)

Wow !! you actually managed to summarize Genesis totally skipping Ishmael and his progeny in Genesis 17:20….I wonder why ??
"And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation."

People don’t realize how metaphoric all these stories are in relation to todays world. Its sad that this channel doesn’t emphasize that more thru every point. Its hard to internalize but you cannot expect to get any useful knowledge from a book that details stories written before there was a real sense of reality.

This is the first time I've heard an explanation beyond the point THAT our God told Jews to mutilate their genitals, but also WHY our God chose that. And I still find it hard to accept because the victim doesn't get to choose for himself (so much for those who believe my body, my choice) and it causes him a great deal of pain and suffering. Many men grow up to discover this violation of their body has taken place and it haunts them, negatively. All I can do is trust that God didn't actually do this thing as I see it now, which is clearly so evil. And most of the bible seems to be about having to trust God and ultimately being blessed for it. I wonder, how many other people have a personal interpretation of something in the bible that they find impossible to accept, so they're also forced to rely on trust?

Great video! Not a fan of casual defense of systematic genital mutilation at birth however 4:04

I am new to reading the Bible and I couldn't help but see nothing but a petty and condescending God who doesn't want to lead and educate his human creations but merely allows them to go so out of control he must kill them en mass multiple times. Meanwhile it's non stop incest and multiple wives for men and God manipulating men in traumatic ways and jealousy and deception everywhere. I'm really trying to pull positives out of Genisis but so far it's just super violent and inappropriate.
These videos are very well made but are not presenting the events literally and definitely give them a spin that makes them sound more positive than they are when you really look at the words in black and white.

The Bible isn't always easy to understand but your videos really help!!! Thank you!!!

I really like this summery that reminds me the order of the events but JACOB in hebrew means “to follow “. Im Israeli and know hebrew. I googled and couldnt stretch myself to find any hebrew word that sounds like JACOB / YAHAKOV that resembles deception.
Same goes with the word ISRAEL which has nothing to do with wrestling with god , but rather ISRA means straight / honest . El is god so it means being / following straight god

Where do you find that Jacob means "deceiver"? Every Hebrew text I find says Jacob means "supplanter" or "He will follow" or "follower".

The books of the Bible are just stories about things that never happened.

Jacob was wearing Esau's skin. In other words, Jacob and Esau were probably the same person. "Jacob" was the name of one of the spirits that lived inside of Esau, and eventually took control over Esau's physical body in a moment of weakness.
