Watch our overview video on the Gospel of John, which breaks down the literary design of the book and its flow of thought. In John, Jesus becomes human as the incarnation of the creator God of Israel, to share His love and the gift of eternal life with the world.

There is NO GREATER DECISION than accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior! I am so happy in knowing that the Son of God lives within my heart! Thank you Jesus, for being my Lord and Savior and for the forgiveness of all my sin, by your precious blood. I love you and serve you with all my heart.

Literally, the one thing Jesus asked his followers to do is to love others and treat everyone as an equal and serve them so they may serve themselves, yet his followers literally raised war after war, treat no one as equals, and did not spread love. I mean did no one even question that fighting another to assert Jesus is literally against everything he is?

how inappropriate that your video distracts from the STRUCTURE God chooses.. you must have had an awful childhood to try and blaspheme a book you never read into a childlike cartoon format, poorly designed

Obviously the creator of this video has not read any kind of textual criticism of the book of John, which would include all of the great effort of looking up the wiki. Don’t believe anything he says, its all just apologetics.

For an accurate and scholarly analysis of John which encapsulates some of the more recent memesis criticism see:

The Dionysian gospel, the fourth gospel and the Euripedes, by Dennis R McDonald, a scholar famous world over for his study of Greek literature spanning the first Millenium BC to first Millenium AD. In this text Dennis dissects the first layer, what some call the “Signs” gospel (7), by comparing the exact Greek wording of elements within the layer to the Euripedes, Bacchae, noting the similarities in the literarar elements, at times the exact same phrasing in Greek. This layer may have been written as early as 60CE, but more likely in the mid 70s.

The second layer is known as the Anti-Jewish layer, and the third layer, probably added between 100CE and 125CE is called the “Beloved Son” layer, where most of the orthodox theology is derived. Finally chapters 21 and the Pericope adulterae was added to complete the text.

The gospel of John was not written by a Jew named John who followed Yeshua of Nazara c30-33CE. It was undeniably written by a Greek speaking and writing author who was both familiar with Greek literature but was also trained in writing Greek literature. Scholars have deduced that the book was written in Ephesus, the city where Timothy, disciple of Paul settled, a city in which the Jewish community austracized Christians because of Paul. Their beliefs evolved from the 20 years after Timothy and Paul separated. For this reason GoJ has very few sayings, because Paul did not teach Jesus sayings, because his knowledge of Jesus came from a hallucination.
For convenience sake this community is now called the Johannian Community of Ephesus.

The book enters the view of mainstream Christianity as Iraneaus is screening Gnostic text after 150CE and this text was found among them. Over time the text spreads among early messianic Jesus movement and becomes the basis for protoorthodoxy and eventually among orthodoxy.

However among secular Scolars, because of its complex and clouded origins it is often not of particular interest. Those scolars tend to focus on text that can be ‘genetically’ traced to common origins, and this also includes the sayings gospel of Tomas and reconstructed gospel of Q (which provides one of two views on the prechristian Jesus Movement. The other source are the critiques of Ebionites and Nazoraeans by the early christian heresy writers.
