Correction: At 7:47 we say that "two women" approached the empty tomb of Jesus in Mark ch. 16. In fact, Mark says that "three women" approached the tomb.

    liberation? you don't say…

I see a lot of money funding the social justice heresy here – formerly known as liberation theology… it's as subtle as it is sad… especially since probably only 10% of the >2mil viewers and >3mil subscribers actually recognize it when they see it…

I love when Jesus says, "Which is easier to say to this man: your sins are forgiven, or rise up and walk?" after he just healed someone in front of them. Every time Jesus did something miraculous, he was ridiculed, praised, and anywhere in between, showing the hardness and unbelief of our hearts.

Thanks for the simple and careful commentary. The 3 acts thing is something I've not thought about before. A good prep video for going through the book on my own.

Scholars have a vested interest in saying things that make them seem vitally, even indispensably important.

I don’t buy their “better-mss-with-the-shorter-ending” canard for one minute. There is nothing more crucial to the mission of God’s Providence than the transmission and preservation of his WORDS. Which is to say, the Text of the Bible. The issue of what he has actually SAID is the issue that got us all in this boat to start with (Gen 3).

And that Text, proliferated and generally received by the entire Church from the beginning is preserved in the King James text, and you can stake your soul on that.

The so-called critical text developed right around the time of Vatican I (1870) has caused nothing but confusion in the name of clarification. By design. (100+ translations—of the same Book into the SAME LANGUAGE??? Just think about that for while. It’s scandalous!)

You boil that all down and you have as a result two streams of Bibles. One of them is True. The other, “revised.”

Thank you. I think this will be my favorite chapter of their Bible as it’s my first read. I felt so bad for Peter in the end when he realized that Jesus had predicted his denial with the crowing 2x… the pain must have been like no other. I cried for an hour when I read this. I feel like such a sinner and am so grateful that there if hope that I can be forgiven. But I don’t know if I can accept this gift cause I don’t know if I believe in God and Jesus Christ I am still finding my faith. Pray for me 🙏🏼 I never asked for that before.

What's really interesting is that in Mark 1, 11 God says that Jesus is his "beloved, the Son of God." "Beloved" in Hebrew is, of course the name David. And the title "son of God" was actually used to delineate that someone was king. So in a way God says "this is the new King David." Which, for most Christians, doesn't have the impact of the son of God claim, but in the context of the writing of the text, make a whole lot of sense.

0:08 I think it's worth highlighting the word "traditions" here, because there's a great deal of evidence to suggest the original authors of these gospels were not only native speakers of Greek (Jesus and his disciples spoke Aramaic), but also that the earliest among them, Mark, was written fifty years after Jesus's execution.
