Why are women paid less on average than men for the same job? Is it sexism? Why do certain ethnic groups have worse outcomes than others? Is it racism? Why did Alberto Salazar beat Frank Turek by 43 minutes in the 1981 New York City Marathon? Was it discrimination? How do you discover the causes for different outcomes in life?

Frank shows that true cause and effect regarding outcomes in our society is much more difficult to establish than those who chant slogans. There are hundreds of reasons why people wind up where they are. Discrimination may explain some of it, but our country has made great progress away from racism despite what current woke people say. Racism does not explain everything.

Although I agree with the basic premise that not everything is a result of rasicm, I think this is an over simplified take on this issue.
To take the promotion example. He says perhaps someone gets the job because they are better qualified, or more motivated etc…not racism. However the reason another person is not as qualified, or motivated could be due to racism previously experienced. Being passed over for the job may not be racist, but that doesn't mean racism a person has been subject to, put them at a disadvantage and therefore has had an impact on their outcomes.

There are worse or just as bad things in churches these days than even racism. Calvinism, prosperity gospel, progressive christianity and although it's nothing new, Roman Catholicism still maintains a foothold.
There's videos on YouTube of a youth band of kids in front of an Episcopalian church music festival in Connecticut and people are praising in the comments how talented the kids are, and they are, but the problem is that these very young kids are performing a prominent rock song with some very prevalent sexual undertones, but nobody seems to care that these kids are in a monetized posting, being used in this way, by a church.
No shortage of church embarrassments these days either.

Dr. Turek, it seems to me like 3/4 of the way into your podcast, when you make the correlation between Asians, White Americans and Black Americans, you discount intergenerational traumas. That sort of makes your case seem a bit trite.

The argument black people in America make is rooted in what outcomes past discriminations have caused. Not that racism is the root of everything, but where it is the root that it be fully addressed and redressed.

It seems your argument, discounted of generational traumas of discrimination, makes perfect sense. But in the frame work of the way this country was founded how you left that kind of history out of you argument concerns me.

Maybe the reason others succeed and others don't isn't even the question. Maybe it's our dependence on God.

Yes it is deeper than race we know this but if you are just trying to reach the babies of this Racial tyranny fight aka BLM then this is a constructive strawman but if you want to come help the fight with the big boys who have been doing this for years helping to bring the masses of all americans together then you should study and study with MLK, William Barber, Phil Vischer, Cornell West the ACLU and others. But you are using outdated info and mixing strawman theories. CRT is another ideal created by the same conservative groups who try to fight against systemic racism. Just because a particular group or individuals do good on test don't mean a particular establishment is not set out to keep them back from particular advancements. You also will find trouble finding justification against racism in testing and doing well numbers if you only look at statistics now after damage like Jim Crow, Chattel Slavery, mass incarceration which all have happen after the civil war. Besides what is actually doing well or being successful anyway? The real reason why academic achievements can be marked on foreigners doing more well than black and white people is because racism is where the establishment starts like Reagan and your buddy Trump, but assign policies that really hurt all power income America, race and fascism is just what is used to divide the votes and get in. Look at things like the reestablishing of the white south and it's living confederate descendants before any healing was completely established or proper establishment for blacks becoming American societally healthy. Or killing black panthers and black leaders who were actually trying to establish a safe and equitable community for all Americans not just black, but was gunned downed and arrested in the 60's and 70's. Why? Well not because it was just racist who's toes they were stepping on but a system of selfishness pride and hierarchy. America just might go to hell if it doesn't repent. So you Mr. Turkey for all your doing in the Kingdom right now for all people might want to check your allegiances when in 2021 after all America is going through want to focus on playing with the idea of race theory. If it's not that big of a deal then focus on Poverty or corporate and political greed and violence against all people. But this is clearly a subject you are out of the water on. And no it is not misunderstood on both sides of the church black and white just the white evangelicals have been disproportionately and overwhelmingly silent, uninformed, or just don't love their neighbor enough to get involved wholeheartedly. If they did then maybe the evidence wouldn't be so absent from your discussion.

Race is everything when it comes to black people perspective of white people and white Christians. White people and white Christians have no problem with thinking Washington, Jefferson, Monroe etc were good men, so they quote them all the time without any conscious. But will talk about hilter as the evilest man ever, as if those presidents wasn't the same to blacks and natives. What about Billy Graham… they quote him also, but he ran segregated churches. Listen man unless white people and Christians look at the world and view humanity the way Malcolm x would, they will always be white first. The reason I didn't say if they view the world from the Messiah lenses is that the clan thinks that they are Christians to lol and I never heard of white Americans or white Christians ever cast a stone at them. So yes race means everything when it comes to white and blacks especially when it comes to white Christians who will be held accountable the most.

FBI crime statistics aren't racist, they're reality. There is no one alive that has felt the lash of slavery in this country. We all graduated from high school and had opportunities to further our education or start a career. We made individual choices and our choices explain a lot.

Hey Bro Frank. I've been watching you for a few years and appreciate all you do to represent God's word to the fullest. There are many thing you've said in this podcast that are great but I feel you are missing the heart of the matter on both topics but I will only refer to the portion on racism. You are correct that racism is not the only cause to the financial gap between blacks and whites, but it is a root of most, if not all, issues that have hurt the black community.

    Racism started slavery.

Slavery caused the father to be pulled out of the home to raise his children.

When slavery was over blacks were given freedom with no education or job

Blacks had to go and work for their masters to be paid as little as they can

Jim Crow laws fed into the black person they are not equal to a white person. Whites had superior education, seats on a bus, and clean water.

When Jim Crow laws were abolished, in an attempt to help struggling families, the welfare system was created. A helping hand is great, but this one came at the expense of losing the father in the home yet again. They would tell black mothers the government will give you money but you can not be married in order to get this money.

This is later on followed by drugs being put into black communities by our government. (Not all conspiracy theories are wrong)

Then we have the blacks being put into jail at an alarming rate for minor offenses. If they had more money they would make bail, but because they don't they have to stay in jail.

Then we come to today. Blacks emotionally have had enough and are tired of being equal on paper but treated as second class citizens. Its important right wing Christians see not only all sides to the problem, but to see the root and give THAT the most important priority when looking at the disparity.

I love your ministry. Please partner with black people and look at it from God's perspective and our point of view.

Ibram X. Kendi, one of the leading CR Theorists, says this on page 11 of his book, Stamped from the Beginning: "We have a hard time recognizing that racial discrimination is the sole cause of racial disparities in this country and in the world at large." Sole cause? My one point in this entire podcast was not to deny discrimination (which I said several times), but to point out that several causes exist for disparities and that discovering the contribution of each of those causes is very difficult, if not impossible, to do. So simply citing disparities or correlations does not prove what CR theorists say they do. We need to fight racism, but we need to accurately identify where it is, and what policies contribute to it, in order to do so.

NOTE: Please be humble when reading this

Humbly, I must say that this was poorly timed and poorly written for our current cultural context. I don't think most people who experience legitimate discrimination are saying that every problem is solely based on some form of historical oppression. Most Minority groups in the US have experienced discrimination for 400+ years, so believe me when I say that we know what it looks like. Some discriminatory practices were not condemned by law until the 1960s, and there is still much social unrest. For you to make the statement, "Racism Doesn't Explain Everything," gives an impression that issues related to racism are "resolved" and that it's time for people to "move on". It also nullifies the voices of people who personally experience discrimination because you have minimized the legitimacy of a REAL and ONGOING issue. I'm not here to argue or cause discord, but I am asking you to "weep with those who weep." (Romans 12:15) There are a lot of people who have been and are currently hurt by this broken, corrupted, sinful society, and rather than acknowledging their hurt, you go out of your way to tell them, "Well, maybe it's not racism. Maybe it's your personality or your qualifications or your intelligence." Doesn't sound great, does it? Please, use your platform for justice. Please use your platform for truth. I challenge you with a command God gave to Israel in Isaiah 1:17, "learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause."

Ok…. I’m just putting my opinion out there. It feels more like he’s downplaying sexist/racist acts instead of acknowledging them. Saying you need all these things to prove that the act was sexist/racist It’s a smack in the face of people dealing with those issues and their lives. It’s kind of like when Jobes friends was giving him petty advice and Job said it was better if they did not speak at all.

Racism is a absurd bolshevik ideology. It is meaningless and first you have to beleive in it. The first thing you must accept is biology: we are part of a species that is divided genetically, chemically, and physically into races and sexes. There are many races and two sexes. You do not have a genetic bond with some races as the Human Genome Project illustrated. You are under no obligation to like, enjoy or want to live with completely different cultures. God would have made us all the same if that was the intention.

Whats the point in drilling that other factors exist. Duh! Of course they do, no one's saying racism is THE ONLY problem effecting black people. If you can't say racism IS a problem black people face, its hard to take anything else you say about it seriously. I know you said "not the only," but you also said "may be." There is no may be. Enough studies have been done to PROVE discrimination against skin color plays a part in, job market, housing market, and policing/ criminal system. Which is what BLM (the protest, not organisation) is about. I'm getting that you believe racism is just a small issue if it plays one at All. But if it does (which it def does) its the only one you mentioned thats a SIN. And shining a light on it doesnt mean the others dont play a part. But its the one that's sinful and thus can be fixed. Lets talk about its a SIN to be and take part in racism. Lets not give people who would rather ignore the cries of millions of people and call them frivolous, than to truly look at themselves and change what may have been complicit behavior. Who cares if I'm being paid a dollar less if I can't even get the job because of my name. Who cares about maternity leave if when I'm being pulled over for the 13th time because I dont look like I work/live in an area. And people are working on drawing attention to the other issues, I dont see how this vid helps blacks underatand their predicament better. The moral im left with is: I lost my race because I was just slower, so blacks don't do well in society because they are too? Maybe they just suck in general(in comparison to whites), minus the athletes? I'm not accusing, I'm truly just trying to understand. Youve inspired my study into apologetics! I enjoy your work. Why not have a Black Christian (Believer) activist on with you while you talk about this stuff. So that your audience can not only understand that there are numours factors dealing with the black community, but also why they choose to focus on policing, or whatever their expertise is in. It may be that many of the other issues also stem from racism. Its like youre talking about an issue from the outside that doesnt effect you, but you know the REAL DEAL.
