Whaaaaat?
This guy does NOT put anything in perspective and takes it out of context. Yes, they did put slavery as a reason for leaving, but it wasn’t the only reason, and it wasn’t the main reason. This guy just says “they said it was about slavery so that’s what it was”. 🙄 Read the book “the real Lincoln”, and it gives a more detailed, more accurate reason for the war, including Lincoln’s reasons. Lincoln was a tyrant who had reporters and congressman thrown in prison for just speaking out against the war.

I remember in my school they liked to paint the founding fathers as hypocrites. Like they'd say they're against slavery but they kept slaves. But this video has shown me its much more complicated than that. Thank you

So apparently David Barton is really not a credible historian. Other historians have disavowed his work and said he misrepresented facts. He got in trouble in like the 90s for making up quotes from the founding fathers (he came out and confirmed they weren’t real quotes), he got in a bit of trouble for citing second hand sources, and he wrote a book on Jefferson that was widely discredited. All this doesn’t mean everything he says is a lie, but I would still be wary of him and only accept that which cannot be refuted (i.e. direct excerpts from historical documents)
Also, in 2013 he claimed that climate change was caused by laws which permitted abortion.

This series and this historian are phenomenal. The in-depth dive into the real history of America should be a standard course in every curriculum. I understand that Democrats don't want real history taught in school since they use the education system as an indoctrination tool, but no one with an integrity could dispute incorporating these teachings.

i'm from louisiana and i've definitely had teachers (specifically one in college) who insisted the north made it about slavery. for the south it was just about being oppressed by the north. i didn't really believe it, but being in the south i always wanted to.

Thanks crowder, I was on the fence on whether or not to be racist, but this helped me decide. I’m a proud transgender member of the klan, the Krowder Klan. We are red blooded Americans of no particular gender who love god and trump and know the truth about the civil war.

Here’s the problem: on one hand, during times like these, we adults realize just how much of history we either slept right through or were never taught. Having a bigger picture and better context is very eye opening (and who knew that history is actually interesting?!) and it helps tremendously when arguing some of these radical idiots who got the fictional version put worth by progressive professors in college just before they went on to graduate and become professional squatters in Starbucks all day. BUT, we need hard nosed, uncontested truths! I was so excited to stumble upon this series of videos and was blown away by the amount of knowledge presented. Then I went online to get more info on Barton and lo and behold he has quite a reputation, and not in a good way. I have to believe that much of what he claims is true given that it can be verified by multiple sources. But then there are other times when his “facts” can, and have been, soundly debunked. I just saw a post on social media that made me remember seeing him explain about the “KKK’s hit card” and I wanted to use it for argument purposes. Before I did, however, I did a quick google which revealed that photo is nothing more than the 64 members of legislature of SC during whatever year it was. No clue what the reasoning for identifying them as “radical” was, but it was not a KKK hit card. My point: stuff like that when we really need credible, verifiable facts make it extremely hard to know what’s true and what isn’t, and that doesn’t make standing against antifa and leftists any easier. If I hadn’t had looked it up first, I would have set myself up as a lying propagandist. Not cool.

Is it true now that though that racist voters in the south vote most republican? I guess that surely a racist would refuse to identify with a party that a majority of minorities vote for, or maybe besides the fact that they are racist, they also have republican values like God, Guns and small government. How many people are even racist in the south today?

As a southerner it's odd hearing it called the civil war, we still call it the war of northern aggression. It wasn't only about slavery. There were several other reasons.
Facts of the Confederacy
The Morrill Tariff act of 1861 (passed) and the Corwin Amendment were approved on March 2nd, 1861. The Corwin Amendment says
“No amendment shall be made to the Constitution which will authorize or give to Congress the power to abolish or interfere, within any State, with the domestic institutions thereof, including that of persons held to labor or service by the laws of said State”
This is proof the “Civil War” was about taxation (and economic differences) over the freeing of slaves. Abraham Lincoln approved of this amendment and rather have made more profit than freeing slaves. (Source: The Civil War Day by Day: An Almanac, 1861-1865

Facts of the Confederacy
Just to be clear: the Confederate Constitution did unambiguously mandated that slavery be legal. It did not mandate that slavery actually exist.
State rights: The Declaration of Independence states:
"When, in the course of human events,
it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."
The Confederate Constitution may have taken some "rights" away. The States left with the right of secession (using the 10th amendment and Declaration of Independence). They did not consent to the Union anymore. They adopted the CSA Constitution consensually (As it was their "right"). Abraham Lincoln wanted to take this "State Right". The CSA was formed and waged war against the USA to preserve this "right". This shows that it was about "State Rights".

All 11 didn’t. There weren’t even 11 documents of secession. If anyone finds them, let me know. I’ve only found 6 and Virginia didn’t mention slavery as being any reason for leaving the Union. Prove me wrong.

Yes succession was because of the slavery issue, but the war itself was started by the north to maintain the union, the south then claimed the war was over states rights, particularly the right of a state to succeed from the United States. Not until the Emancipation Proclamation did the war become about freeing the slaves.

I like to think the south was just a bunch of dicks ,because its always hot. Also they didnt have propper ways to get clean so it just made them nuty. Heat causes crimes to go up these days with the law enforcement we have. Imagine how bad it was then. Tons of grimey evil things. Mostly happening in the south ,because they looked at those poor people as expendable resources. I hope we ALL get our shit together some day ,and race REALLY doesnt.
