How Selflessness Points Most Reasonably to the Christian God

We’ve watched several celebrity Christian pastors, singers and apologists fall or leave the faith in the last year. They all had one thing in common: celebrity. What is so dangerous about the desire to be famous? Why must every one of us guard ourselves from celebrity in the social media age? J. Warner answers these questions in this episode of the NRBtv Cold-Case Christianity Broadcast.

We are all but servants of our Lord; it is Him who shall receive all the glory –

    Philippians 2:10-11
".. that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,  and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

No one will be proclaiming how nice, amazing, powerful, charismatic, humble, well-spoken, good-looking, influential, popular, or intelligent that any of us were……. Everyone will bow to Christ!

"For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power." – 1 Corinthians 4:20. Christians helped Reverend MLK destroy USA apartheid. Amen! Working for Harvard Unitarians, I met Bishop Tutu helping destroy South African racist apartheid. See? My grandma was Assemblies of God NY treasurer. Join a race-mixing peace church and right some wrongs. Christians in action! Peace be with you.

Thank you so much for your mature and biblical response to the RZIM scandal. Rather than focus on the man, you focused on the real underlying problem. And you're absolutely right: it's all about the Master and His Message – not clickbait for the servant!

This is very, very true, and something I try to guard against. However, having watched this, I realize I need to re-evaluate all my social media "platforms" too now. I think my picture is everywhere on my platforms, and I'm definitely not celebrity.

Don't duck dynasty preach baptismal regeneration? instead of salvation by faith alone?

Amen. And to your question about the "celebrity" n scripture, Paul's opening statements n his letters leverage his celebrity 4 Christ. Then he gave the same case u gave here n 1Cor 3.
Servants we must become, 4 the least of these will become the greatest n the Kingdom 2 come.

Exceptional message….a thoughtful, inspired realisation to share, and courageous approach going forward. If I was asked what a developing Christ consciousness looks like, this is an example I would point to very easily. Thank you for this!

Well done Sir! I saw all of the "God's Not Dead" movies. I was most fascinated by Lee Strobel and you in "God's Not Dead 2". I literally had no idea who either of you were. I found the information you both shared in the movie quite stunning. To be an atheist and literally do research to prove that you were right as an atheist, only to prove yourself wrong was something I had never heard or seen before. I fully appreciate your and Lee Strobel's conversions. I see so much more of the "Hollywood elite" bowing to a narrative than the Truth anymore that I stopped watching/listening to almost everything about them. I enjoy the Robertson family as well. God bless you and keep you safe.

I completely agree about not naming your orginazation after yourself. Kind deeds are better done in secret, with a heavenly reward. Publicity, money and power are earthly rewards.

There's a video here on YT of a well-known pastor walking up to the podium in a crowded and very large venue. Before he even speaks he gets a standing ovation. If that happened to me I would walk off and never speak in public again.

I pray that you are well!!! 🤗🙏🏻✝️❤️🙌🏻 God bless you and your family! 😊 I think your job is cool. It's kinda like what I want to learn! 😌 It takes knowledge, wisdom, and experience just like your job does! 🤗 God alone should always be the focal point! 🙁

Thank you for this great gem of wisdom. If there can be said to be a silver lining in getting old, chronic illness and chronic pain, beside the fact we are closer to being with Jesus every day, the lure of fame, sex, wealth and power fade into oblivion. If only we could all learn this wisdom when we are young, so many of life’s painful experiences could be avoided. It’s all about Jesus and looking to him every day.

I totally agree. We (Christians) need to take the spotlight off of ourselves and put the light 🕯️ where it needs and deserves to be❣️ Christ ONLY Christ. Not what I might do, but what HE has done and continues to do for eternity❣️🤗😍

When I first became a Christian I was looking for some conservative apologetics books to buy, when I saw the picture of Dave Hunt, he looked very Grandfatherly, so I bought his In Defense Of The Faith and Occult Invasion along with Walter Martin's, Kingdom of the Cults. They both looked very mature and trustworthy, which has held me in good stead.
So, because of that I hope that, Mr Wallace, you don't remove your photos from your thumbnails.

Mr. Wallace, this was an excellent wake-up call for me and for your viewing audience. As you were speaking, I traced back to my ministry experience and realized that (on occasion) I chased the celebrity. But God (and my accountability team) intervened. My ministry to sexually broken men started 25 years ago. If there is any ministry more vulnerable to scandal and failure it is mine. Yet God has protected me from — myself! Thank you and God bless…
