Was Jesus a Social Justice Warrior?

Progressive Christians have popularized the idea that Jesus was either a socialist and/or a β€˜Social Justice Warrior’. But when one takes a close look at the Gospels one finds that neither is the case. Christ was never interested in equality here on earth, but in repentance.

We are all baptized in one spirit. Saved by one gospel. By one God. We all come from Noah. We are one people. The only difference is beliefs

Once you haven't experienced poverty and injustice, it is so easy to assume and say all sorts of things that you think are logical, but what gives me hope is that Jesus came for those who need him and fought for those who were poor, weak, and even sinful. We should never discourage social justice because of the idea that Jesus' purpose here on earth was not social justice but to solve the problem of evil and bring us back in connection with God.

I don't agree when he places the idea that poverty follows from injustice completely in the marxist box because it is true, although not for all cases, but it is true at least for some. It is also true that laziness and low productivity also leads to poverty. Christ gave it as a command to help the poor. If poverty was totally the result of people's decisions, then there won't be any such command.

    Short Answer: No.
How Jesus conflicts with being a SJW:
    – He wasn't Authoritarian
    – He didn't expect to micromanage everyone's life.
    – He said "Give to God what is God's; & Cesaer what is Cesaer's"
    – He said "Love your Adversary".
    – In story of Canaan woman begging for crumbs, he shows he supports an in group bias (i think so), even if he cares for & praises out group as well (??)
    – He repeatedly rejected seizing power over others.
    – He taught that truth creates freedom; rather than is something to fear & suppress, because of what it could turn out to be.
    – He said to use an Equal Measure.
    – He said to assess things on bearing good fruit or evil fruit.
    – Sermon on the Mount: compared lesser rewards of "being seen in the eyes of men" (showing virtue/earning approval, respect, validation etc VS greater rewards).

What about Matthew 25:36 and the other issues surrounding that verse? It sounds to me like Jesus came for more than just saying on the cross because what is mentioned in the verse I posted IS Jesus pointing out sin that he is JUDGING!

Jesus said "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor." Luke 4:18-21. Again, Jesus responding to John the Baptist's doubts said "Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor." Matthew 11:4-6. So there is justice for the poor, but it isn't mainly about material outcomes in this life, since eternity is in view. "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." Romans 8:18

This guy is just as wrong as the people claiming Jesus is an SJW lol. Liars to my Left, and liars to my Right. Instead of listening to this guy's interpretation of the Gospel, maybe get a little crazy and go read it for yourself.

Jesus did not come solely to save the poor. He came to save the world from itself, from Hell.

Yet we are commanded to love our neighbors as ourselves. Wouldn't I, if I were being trafficked or stuck in exploitation, etc. want someone to change the way things were for me? It's far too easy and too common to say "well Jesus was talking about saving us from sin, so we don't have to worry about the physical stuff." I don't think you can look at the life and teaching of Jesus and ignore that the way he tells us to love one another is revolutionary and has massive implications both in the physical world and the spiritual. Is the entire point to overthrow classist societies and even everything out? Clearly no. But if we are truly following Jesus and loving others as ourselves, we will most definitely proclaim good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to the captives, and set at liberty those who are oppressed, both in the spiritual sense and the natural one. His kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven is not relegated to the spiritual sense only. He is king over it all, and we are called to live like his children in all of it. Be careful the battles you fight, sure. But don't let us off the hook by minimizing who Jesus was and is.

It's easy to understand Jesus Christ and his behavior. When u actually put ur self in the context of the culture . Bcz western culture n middle East culture are different.
Most important the history of old Testament is the mirror to show Jesus Christ as Messiah..
    Messiah and worrier is different..
Messiah means savior. ( sacrifice himself)
Warriors who fight for us an saves us.
English words will never can explain the exact meaning of Hebrew and Greek literature.. ( holy Bible).

Social Justice is not a foreign world view buddy. You got it all wrong. We're not talking about political correctness. We're talking about social justice meaning those who are treated unjustly or inhumanly. Jesus stepped in when the harlot woman was about to get stoned. That scripture alone is advocacy. Jesus also said feed the poor. Stip twisting things to fit your narrative sir. I think you need to dive more into scripture and see how many times injustices were corrected.

We are all worthy of death and Jesus is both our lawyer and our Judge. We just have to look in the newspaper and hire him.

Jesus ETERNALLY saves those who are temporarily alive:

MANY of them are saved TEMPORARILY by socialist under communism who CARE about people's temporary lives

Unfortunately, Western Imperial Fascist Elite Plutocracies like USA/GB/EU/etc try to kill people (destroy lives) so they never learn about Jesus CARING about people's ETERNAL lives

    China-PRC communists are ultimately like:
    1) the "certain Samaritan" of Luke 10 who care about people
    2) peacemakers, who are truly "Children of God"
    3) like Jesus, a TRUE FRIEND, who laid down his LIFE for others!

    USA/UK/EU are like the:
    1) thugs who attacked victims (Luke 10)
    2) hypocrites who avoid helping the victims of thugs (Luke 10)
    3) warmongers (typical of Fascist USA and the West)

    Total Opposites!

Real China will always be people-caring:
    = Communists
    = Socialists
    = True Majoritarian Democracy
    = Guided by CPC!

    Fascist Elitist Plutocracies
like Imperial Colonialist Fascist Undemocratic USA/British/European (Germany+Japan were duped pawns of Fascist US Plutocracy) Plutocracies (pushing totalitarian klepto-corporatocratic slavery and feudalism as a fake "democracy" = fake freedom)

don't confuse SJWs (who exist in Fascist Elite Plutocracies like USA and its subjugated colonies of "US Warmongering Empire")
    from the others, like:
socialists and communists who achieved both freedom and prosperity via REAL DEMOCRACY FOR ordinary majority public!

in the undemocratic plutocratic USA+West, the duped masses "vote freely" for pre-paid political puppets (political class) already owned by the thieving swindling ruling Plutocratic Elites up top (private power with private unaccountable wealth)

true social (public power) democracy never uses USA-style bribed puppet-politicians! (this USA type of Plutocratic arrangement is corrupt, and thus, ABSENT/FORBIDDEN = illegal in China-PRC!)

Jesus was all about social justice, that’s not progressive, it’s The Gospel. People who deny that have shaped scripture to make their comfortable with their own world view. This man read the Word to confirm his biases. I get it; the liberals and leftist are easy to hate but we cannot associate justice with Leftist agenda. It belongs to God. Jesus growing in wisdom and virtue could be seen as secondary and apart from his purpose but doesn’t make it insignificant..

39Β But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.40Β And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.41Β If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.42Β Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. – Matthew 5:39-42KJV
The Romans as the ruling class were the ones that could make an Israelite carry their belongings 1 mile, Jesus said go with them 2 miles, do not resist them.

β€œIf you declare with your mouth β€œJesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Now is the time to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. Obey His commands and repent of your sins because Jesus is coming back soon. Tomorrow isn’t promised.
