How to Communicate the Evidence for Christianity

Why do some of my best arguments for the existence of God or the truth of Christianity seem to fall on deaf ears? Why are their times when my “case making” seems ineffective? What can I do to communicate the truth of Christianity more effectively? Detective Jimmy Wallace (J. Warner’s son) tackles these questions as part of his Incarnate Investigation Video Series.

That's how I feel as well. The Bible talks about the reapers and sowers. I'm more a sower my self, and I'm fine with it. I think the sower of the word in conversation has a harder job to do, but it's always God who gives the growth!

I'm glad you shared this. I've been debating athiests quite a bit recently and I started feeling the same way. This video encouraged me to keep sharing my faith and not give up. God bless you

I hope this encourages: No one is "the last Christian"…God is the One, according to 1 Corinthians 3:6, that makes the conversion happen. We might be the 1st, 2nd, 5th, or 10th believer a person speaks to, but only God, truly [should], gets the credit for convincing and convicting the person's heart and persuading them to come to Him. I always love the baseball analogy that Det Wallace gave in a video…

I feel ur pain. The frustration of the stalemate involved in anti- vs. apologetics. But likening it to converting Mormons into Christians is not real fair comp. Morm. is relatively easily debunked given its many illogically formed themes. When u go after the non-believer as a Christian ur already carrying a lot of baggage of dissension w/in ur own ranks & they know that. Also the answers to ur apologetical reasonings r merely a key stroke away & they know that too. Literally any & every pro- Christian reasoning can & has been found to b lacking somehow. I went thru this for decades. Until the day came when I realized THE only true way to God was thru FAITH. Faith makes it true to you. It gives u that peace that passes all understanding. As long as u feed that faith no matter what else u hear it will abide in u. But don't ever dream u can reason ur way to God. It's just not possible, at least not w/ the info available to us now. Maybe 1 day?

Think it's important to remember–whether we are the first Christian in the line or the last–that it isn't up to us to change anyone's heart or mind. Knowing that, we cannot fail if we say something, anything. God can still use our awkwardness, what he can't use is our silence.

I think one thing that changed my thinking on this is this, I am never USED by God. At no point does God need me in any capacity. To be used is to be like a tool, an inanimate object. God could use a rock or a Donkey to bring someone to faith.

Instead, God INVITES us to work with Him to do the work for His kingdom. We get to be the recipients of the work He is doing and be in a relationship with Him in doing that. He does all the work, we are just there reaping the rewards of what he is doing. It is similar to when a parent helps his toddler carry a heavy bag, the toddler gets to have their hands on it and listen to the parent's encouragements but the toddler may even be making the bag heavier at times…the parent doesn't need the help but engages in this practice because of relationship.

This perspective helps in every facet because then we do not take ownership of "saving someone", God is the one doing it. There is less pressure of the outcome because it is more focused on the relationship with the creator. It fosters a relationship with the person we are sharing the Gospel with because it isn't to save them from their sin but to invite them into the relationship that we were called into. People are not a project that we need to complete, they are people whose hearts God cares about and wants to have with Him and we get to be a part of that process.

I could go on but I find that the invitational mindset vs used as a tool mindset to be helpful.

All we can do is plant the seed, and that is our job, only God can truly change a heart.

    God saves, we don't.
God tells believers to tell non believers about Christ, but we don't, can't, talk anyone into the kingdom of God.
We are blessed by God to be given a role by telling people about Christ, but we are not responsible for their conversion because we can't change hearts.
Only God changes hearts, and salvation is a heart change.
We hate God up until God changes our heart, and no amount of evidence will sway a person. God has to change them, and then the evidence doesn't even matter. In other words, if you happen to be talking to someone who God is ready to save, you can say almost anything and they will end up believing in Christ's salvific work because God worked inside them.
Sure, study to have a well reasoned answer to skeptics, but don't expect to see any be saved from talking with you. That is, don't expect it unless it happens frequently with you. If that's the case, God has given you the gift of evangelism. That just means he's blessed you with many crowns in eternity for doing nothing but saying a few words here and there while he does all the real work.
Folks with that gift are very few, but they do exist.

The way GOD chose to pass on HIS salvatiom message, by using people, especially me, seems, at best, Ineffective and inefficient! And at worst incompentent. Sorry GOD! 😞☹🤕

That is a good way of looking at it.

Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

    John 4:35‭-‬38

I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

I enjoy apologetics and am relatively new at it. I have a hunger for it in order to be more used by God, but I especially enjoyed this video as it was different. Got to know you a little more – thanks! And I can relate to you. I live in Chile and have passed out many pocket Gospels and tracts, never knowing how much they impact someone. Keep sowing the seeds Jimmy! God will reward you!! I gave someone a tract titled You Are Special in a fast food place. As I passed his table on the way out I noticed that he was looking at the back of the tract and tears were visible. In short he accepted Christ and called his son to tell him. I also have and interesting story about Mormon missionaries visiting my house.

Appreciate your thoughts on the matter. I myself can feel likewise at times. It's as if what I say to people fall on deaf ears, but hopefully God will help this person by an interaction with another Christian down the line. God bless 🙏🏻

Bottom line? The Holy Spirit does the heavy lifting, folks. There comes a point where we can't force it to happen. The Holy Spirit leads men and women into all truth. All we can do is just plant little seeds here and there and be used when we can.

Many of our Christian brothers and sisters view the first and last word as theirs. Only God reserves that right. What’s more, we have to remove gratification of the servant from the process of evangelism, proud and sugarcoated alike. That’s how we can be effective servants.

I like what Greg Koukl says, that it is important to be Gardeners, and prepare the ground of other people's hearts, so that other Christians may later on reap that which you have sewed.
